This week’s overview of transfers, appointments, promotions and other people news includes updates from Belfius, Fidelity International, BeLuThai, and the Luxembourg Press Council.
Sofie Geukens
Sofie Geukens (photo) will take on the role of head of alternative investments at Belgian bank Belfius from 1 April. She currently serves as the firm’s head of investment solutions and fund selection.
Her experience prior to Belfius included sales roles at Goldman Sachs, as well as stints at Societe Generale and BNP Paribas.The Belgium firm is currently seek a replacement.
Sven Verstraete, Ricky Martens and Dorcas Lehacaut
Sven Verstraete, Ricky Martens and Dorcas Lehacaut are joining its Benelux sales team at Fidelity International.
Verstraete joins as Sales Director in Brussels from Robeco, Martens as Associate Director in Amsterdam from Barings, and Lehacaut as Sales Associate supporting Fidelity's team from Luxembourg.
Verstraete is tasked with maintaining client relationships and fostering Fidelity's growth in Belgium. Martens will focus on the development and strengthening of Fidelity's position in the Dutch private markets, while Lehacaut, previously with Caceis Bank, will support the sales team in the Benelux region from Luxembourg.
Lynn Warken
Lynn Warken has been appointed as the president of the Luxembourg Press Council. Warken will replace Roger Infalt and is the managing director of the Lëtzebuerger Journal. She will take over the presidency for two years starting on 1 April.
Joining Warken on the executive board are Infalt as general secretary, Paul Peckels, CEO of Mediahuis Luxembourg, publisher of the Luxembourg Times, and Misch Pautsch as vice-presidents, Emmanuel Fleig as treasurer, and Ines Kurschat, Luc Caregari and Steve Schmit as assessors.
Luxembourg’s press council, created in 1979, is responsible for overseeing the code of ethics for journalists working in the country. It has a range of other functions, including dealing with complaints relating to media publications, and the granting and withdrawing of official press cards to journalists.
Sek Wannamethee
Ambassador Sek Wannamethee has joined the Belgian-Luxembourg/Thai Chamber of Commerce, known as BeLuThai, as an advisor to the board.
Since January, Ambassador Sek has been appointed as a member of the Corporate Governance and Sustainable Development Committee of Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF).
BeLuThai was established in November 1992 to support economic relations between Belgium/Luxembourg and Thailand. The aim of BeLuThai is to further support market access to and investments in Thailand for Belgian and Luxembourg companies.
